The Farmhouse is a place to rest. The pace of the day made real conversation possible. It also made naps possible, which the teens in my youth group relished. They came so exhausted by the demands on their lives. It also is a place where grace can be lived out. The kids who can't keep up the pace in ordinary academic, athletic or social situations are included at the Farmhouse, because these measures of success have no relevance to the monastic life. Everyone feels more free, and more loved, and more human.
