Noemia—30 year old teacher from Lisbon, Portugal     The Farmhouse to me is a place of renewal and rest. Renewal in the sense of my spirit being refreshed and awakened to what is happening or needs to happen around me. I am drawn out of my little selfish world to enter a place where God is calling people closer to Him with others in view for us to serve. It is basically impossible to visit The Farmhouse and not become more aware of what is happening in other parts of the world.  As I leave The Farmhouse, I understand that I have seen more of God’s riches and His love in this world. It is also a place of rest, not only because of its geographical place but also because of the ones caring for it. I appreciate this because we live in a world where everything is rushed, and we hardly have time to take a breath.  Basically, The Farmhouse is a place which wraps itself around those who visit it and calls them to leave their mark as well.
The Farmhouse is located in a rural part of southern Indiana and strives to remain close to the land in all it does.  As much as possible, we eat local produce and make our meals from scratch.  Retreat participants will have opportunities to participate in tilling the soil, to join in God's creative reality through the restoration of the land, the production and harvest of fruits and vegetables, and enjoyment of God's creation.
Barry—53 year old contractor from Knoxville, Tennessee For us the atmosphere at the Farmhouse is one of focusing on/into God's reality. The atmosphere of communion with God and one another was delightful. Having said that my favorite times were getting up very early to be alone in the dark before the light of the day and seeing the wonder of Him in the stars and the sunrise.  The Farmhouse is a place to step out of the world and into the creative reality of Him.
